Growing to Succeed: Parenting Young Children for School Success
Growing to Succeed is a 3-part training workshop for non-English speaking parents of children from birth to kindergarten.
The Growing to Succeed curriculum is a collaboration between the MPS Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Multilingual Departments. It was designed specifically for families who speak languages other than English at home, and who may not have the support or access to resources they need in order to prepare their children for kindergarten.
A Child’s First Teacher

The Growing to Succeed workshops are facilitated in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong, and affirm the belief that parents are a child's first and most important teacher regardless of their home language. The training provides an opportunity for parents to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become more active in their children's early educational experiences.

Early Childhood Focus
Sessions focus on educating parents about the stages of early childhood development, language and numeracy development in young children, appropriate social and emotional support for young children, and early childhood education programs and resources in Minneapolis.
